GATE

GATE is Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering conducted all over india every year. This is conducted in eight zones of india by faculty from renowned institutes namely IIT and IISc who are masters in advanced education. GATE score is valid for two years. Through GATE one can do the specialisation in engineering discipline based on the undergrad domain. 

This is not only a test for admission but also to identify suitable engineers in various areas and let them choose their area of interest in which they can pursue masters degree. Since IIT and IISc are innovative their testing ablitiy is also innovative. Due to this GATE pattern changes each year posing different types of problems to the students. One has to be very thorough with the concepts in deriving the answers for GATE questionnaire. It is not just the concept of mugging up and writing the exam. It is measured on percentile basis and to attain highest percentile one has to be very good at reasoning the question and answering it.
